Elizabeth Gaye MacDonald
Elizabeth is a Windsor-based plein air painter working primarily in oil on panel.
Her practice centers on direct observation, capturing the shifting qualities of light and atmosphere across rural and urban landscapes. Working exclusively on location, she embraces immediacy and resists studio reworking, allowing each piece to retain its spontaneity and physicality. Influenced by the legacy of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, her work reflects an ongoing engagement with the Canadian landscape. She is the founder of the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Artists, fostering a sustained culture of outdoor painting in the region.
