John M Canal

Coming from a long line of Venetian and Milanese view artists, John M Canal’s works are all original, one-of-a-kind, full-line, fully cross-hatched drawings often with a touch of watercolour.

They are interpretations of, and are inspired by, a series of oil paintings done during the Venetian Republic by his great, great, great, great uncle, Giovanni Antonio Canal known as Canaletto. The works reflect the life and times of Venice in the 18th century, with some depicting scenes of that era in Rome, Italy as well as London, England.
